1. Measure the width of the window at three points: the top, middle, and bottom. Use the largest of these measurements as your total width.
2. If you need two separate blinds for one window, divide the total width by 2 and use that measurement for each blind (e.g., 70" ÷ 2 = 35").
3. Measure the height at three points: the left, middle, and right.
French Door
* Follow these steps to measure accurately for French Door installation.
1. Measure the width of the glass inside each door at three points: the top, middle, and bottom.
2. Take the largest of the three width measurements and add 2 to 3 inches.
3. If you need three separate blinds, divide the total width by 3 and use that measurement for each blind (e.g., 90" ÷ 3 = 30").
4. Take the largest of the three height measurements and add 4 to 6 inches (2 to 3 inches at the top and 2 to 3 inches at the bottom).
Sliding Door
1. If the depth of the top frame is less than 2 inches, you will need to use an outside mount.
2. Measure the width of your sliding door opening at three points: the top, middle, and bottom.
3. For an inside mount, use the smallest of the three measurements as your width.
4. For an outside mount, add at least 4 inches to your measurement to ensure maximum coverage of the light gap.
5. For outside mounts, measure the door height in three areas: left, center, and right. Be sure to start your measurement from where the headrail will be placed, which is typically 3 to 4 inches above the door.
6. For inside mounts, simply use the largest measurement. There's no need to add any extra length to this measurement.
