Through Matter over Thread, Kincmo Smart Shades instantly connect with every major ecosystem—Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings—tearing down platform barriers while providing ultra-responsive shade control throughout your home.
To integrate Kincmo Matter Shades into your smart home, a compatible hub or device serving as both a Thread Border Router and Matter Controller is required. These core components enable seamless connectivity between your shades and the smart ecosystem. A common example is the HomePod mini, which fulfills both roles for Apple Home.
For multi-platform control—such as across Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home—each ecosystem requires its own Matter Controller. You can set up the shades initially in Apple Home using a HomePod mini, then share the Matter setup code with an Alexa-enabled device like an Echo Show 5 to extend control to multiple systems.
Note that only one Thread Border Router is needed during setup. However, each additional platform you wish to use will require a separate Matter Controller to operate the shades independently within that ecosystem.
